Print Quest invest in high quality inkjet proofing (03.09.2010)

Flexo platemakers Print Quest are no strangers to adopting the latest in technological developments. Just over 18 months ago, Print Quest became the first British company to purchase the Kodak NX platemaking system.
To catch-up with most advanced proofing technolgy, the company has installed Star Proof software and an Epson Stylus Pro WT7900 inkjet printing systems. The installation was carried out by Graphic Republik

Wentus Kunststoff orders a ten-colour FI from Comexi Group (28.08.2010)

The well-known and internationally recognised flexible packaging specialist, will install a flexo printing press FI 2510 CNC GL in the next months in Höxter, Germany. The ten-colour machine convinced the company because of its high speed production and the excellent test results obtained. Wentus will print jobs with long runs and high speed to increase production capacity. They are also looking for a quick changeover time. The FI 2510 features a maximum production speed of 600 m/min (1969 ft/min).
Maximum print length is 850 mm (33“).

EskoArtwork donates software to FTA (23.08.2010)

Flexographic Technical Association’s (FTA) TEST
program is pleased to announce a generous donation from EskoArtwork. The global supplier
of innovative solutions for packaging, printing and publishing, has donated a complete suite of
flexo-related software in the spirit of advancing the development of the association’s FIRST Operator Certification Program.
Included in the donation are multiple accounts of editing & sheet layout modules, workflow
automation, color management, output & imaging programs, 3D design applications and online collaboration solutions.

Janoschka and Kroma bring DLS to Turkey (23.08.2010)

Prepress suppliers Janoschka and Kroma in Izmir/TR have sealed their common intention to
found a joint venture of equal parts for the manufacture of DLS cylinders in Turkey. This very first installation of a Direct Laser System in the Turkish market place will bring diversified benefits to the tobacco, food and other flexible packaging branches.
The alliance between these leading market players is the perfect base to meet the quality requirements of local and international clients. It combines Kroma’s local market know-how on one
side with Janoschka’s quality and production standards and its Direct Laser expertise on the other side. Production start is planned for beginning of 2011.

Hungarian Marriage (23.08.2010)

The two medium-sized ink manufacturers Doneck Euroflex SA, based in Grevenmacher (Luxembourg),
and JKM Pronat Kft, based in Budapest (Hungary), have formed the joint venture Doneck Pronat Kft. for the manufacture and distribution of flexographic and gravure printing inks in Central Europe. The location in the Hungarian capital Budapest allows the Doneck Network
to offer even more customer focus.

New Zealand's Rank Group acquires Pactiv Corp. (19.08.2010)

New Zealand's Rank Group acquired Pactiv Corp. in a deal valued at USD 6 billion. Pactiv will become part of Rank's Reynolds Group Holdings subsidiary, which makes food and beverage packaging and storage products, including Reynold's Wrap Aluminum foil.
Rank came out as the winning bidder, over rival paper and packaging company Koch Industries Inc, based in Kansas/USA, and private-equity firm Apollo Global Management.

Temkin to install PCMC Fusion press (12.08.2010)

The Payson, UT/USA-based flexible packaging printer/converter will add an eight-colour, 59" (1500 mm) gearless PCMC Fusion flexo CI press to increase capacity.

Investment in the future (12.08.2010)

Duro Bag continues to expand throughout the United States. After working with the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority to secure up to USD 1 million in tax incentives, Duro will invest up to USD 2.5 million in its operations in Florence, KY/USA. The investment will allow Duro to add production capacity.

Bilcare acquires global films business from Ineos (03.08.2010)

The group providing pharmaceutical packaging which enables drug stabilisation and protection has acquired the global films business from Great Britain-headquartered Ineos Group. The transaction price is approximately EUR 100 million. The deal comprises the business, assets and personnel related to Ineos Films operations located in North America, Europe, and Asia. The two companies said the agreement »brings together complimentary capabilities and synergies of two leading global businesses«.
Ineos Films manufactures products for pharmaceutical blister packaging, films for printing and decoration, shrink film for sleeves, capsules and plastic credit cards. The company employs around 1300 people across manufacturing sites in Germany, Italy, India and North America. It has the capacity to produce around 140,000 tonnes of films per annum and has a turnover of around EUR 240 million. Bilcare offers pharma packaging and research, global clinical trial supplies services and has particular expertise in anti-counterfeiting technology. Its manufacturing and research facilities are in India, Singapore, USA and Great Britain.

Flexo screening awarded (02.08.2010)

he Printing Industries of America has awarded the Kodak Digicap NX Screening technology with a »2010 InterTech Technology Award«. The awards will be presented during GraphExpo in Chicago in October.
